Food Webs & Food Chains

The world has many relationships amongst plants and animals.

Discussing food chains allows us to see the levels specific to producers, consumers and decomposers.

Our food webs allow us to paint a picture of how multiple plants and animals work as a team to survive.

During this presentation, the students will learn how life is a continuing flow of energy.

Topics we will cover:

  • Difference between a food chain and a food web
  • How their environment can impact the balance of a food web. Eg. Introduced species, floods and droughts
  • The effects of a keystone species Eg. Crocodile

Animals the students will meet may include:

  • An invertebrate
  • Lizard
  • Snake
  • Crocodile
  • Bird

The kids will also be involved in an interactive activity which will show them how the Food Web comes together.
